Now that the holiday season is here (and almost gone, come back winter break) it is time to reflect on the year and talk about the year ahead.
Here is a quick recap of what happened with this Instagram reel
2022 SUMMARY
From being a teacher of the year at my school, to conducting a full beginning band with help of a great colleague, and ending it with 4 back to back concerts. This year was jam packed and the upcoming year is going to be even more accelerated with new projects. We plan on being a lot more present on social media, sharing on going progress or random topics of interest. Luckily these last few days I've been able to organize this little business a little bit better.
This whole year was about really finding out what Saguaro Music was about and what I wanted to do with it. Not just offering private lessons or music production services, showing off some of the work I do in the classroom, music production techniques I learned and used, what I find best use in a studio for personal recording, the best ways to help any musician in any field succeed and a chance to help someone start their musical journey.
2022 was full of change for me. Starting off the year with getting engaged was pretty great. So is the wedding planning (70 days away when posting this). Buying a house brought new challenges and great memories that my fiancee and I will cherish forever. As well as changing studio spaces from a spacious office to a small bedroom (for now at least).
Being able to record quick tracks on the go still is very important for me still. Those projects with Andrew through out this year have been helpful in improving my music production techniques. Giving more confidence to offer these services to others again.
Not much was produced or created but projects were started and outlined. Giving hope for 2023 to release a few songs and maybe an album or two. Along with composing small melodies and other fun instrumental tunes for other people.
LOOKING FORWARD
2023 is still going to be full of good change and new challenges.
PROJECTS
At Home Studio:
We have a garage space that would make a nice studio space (or so my wife tells me). So far I’ve been able to clean out the space and adding this storage shed in the backyard helps as well. Stay up to date on this project by subscribing below. Our studio space will always be rearranged every now and then, but my main goal for the recording studio side is to have a functioning workspace that welcomes bands and artists and anyone who needs to record. For now it can only be solo artists (until the garage project is finished at least).
Andrew Davidson:
My friend and one of the best brass players coming out of Tucson AZ has a lot of music he has written (and we’ve recorded). However we both want to polish up this early work with our new skills. We plan on releasing a full album by the end of the year. Be on the look out for single releases and the full album launch.
Music To My Ears:
A podcast. Of course we’re starting a podcast. This is where we will talk to people, teachers, artists, musicians, friends, family anybody who has found that one little thing that is music to their ears. On a quest to find balance of work, life, and ease and maybe learn a thing or two along the way.
Sunset Terrace:
This ongoing project is a collection of my musical work. Now that I have a musical space to be creative, it is time to use it daily with musical practice and composition. Being able to organize the business side of Saguaro during my winter break has helped me understand what we need to do to be relevant online and to make a great side income. There are a lot of aspects of music that I love to do, so I plan on setting a routine of working on those different music jobs.
Masters in Music Education:
As a music teacher, I do plan on pursuing a Masters in Music Education. This is something that is going to last me 2-3 years to complete and am excited to do so. There are a few graduate degrees I plan to pursue and other certificates to help improve myself as a teacher and music producer. Learning is one of my favorite things to do along side teaching.
We really want to thank you all for the support and love we've had since 2019. We are still starting out and 2023 will be our best year yet. Be on the look out for more updates and posts about this journey. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
